Demolition of the existing and construction of a new sanctuary with internal alterations. This project involved demolishing the whole sanctuary and internal choir balcony whilst maintaining weekend services.
A temporary plywood screen was erected to the full height of the church to separate the bulk of the works from the church. After demolition works and foundations were completed a challenging brickwork project got underway needing 80,000 bricks. Several arches, curved walls and features were built. The roof presented another challenge involving the creation of a quarter sphere for the ceiling of the apse.
Internally the sanctuary floor was rebuilt and finished with a limestone tile, a new stone altar was erected, also an ambo, tabernacle plinth and baptismal font. A large crucifix with fine art painting on each side was hung above the altar, and a new stained glass window was the final showpiece for a beautiful finish.
Single Story Rear Extension. This extension was an unusual shape accessed by a narrow side alley. The flat roof had a glazed window full width of the extension to allow plenty of light in. Steps led from the dining room down into the kitchen which had an island unit as a focal point. A new block pavior patio and fencing complimented the finish.
Internal Reordering of the Church including new church hall, toilets, lift, balcony, vesting room and entrance. New portico entrance and complete redecoration of church including new flooring. This was a challenging, but rewarding project to work on. Stage 1: A new ground and first floor was created with steel beams inside the entrance creating a parish hall on the first floor and an attractive entrance with Doric style columns. A large gallery/balcony cantilevered over columns into the church was created with a rose window above. Externally, a new red brick arched portico was built with Bath stone steps and a ramp for disabled access. Stage 2: This was the internal refurbishment of the church. It included the installation of a new stone altar, shrines, confessional, wood and vinyl flooring, redecoration and fine artistry.
Large loft conversion, new roof, rear extension, new windows throughout, full internal renovation including installation of Lutron lighting system. This was the complete reordering of the internal ground floor layout involving lowering the floor to the rear of the house level with external patio. A new loft conversion, creation of au pair quarters and four bespoke bathrooms and underfloor heating. A beautifully designed garden complimented the build.
Renovation and reordering of presbytery and parish centre. This project was approached in two stages with the basement being completed first creating temporary accommodation for the residents while the upstairs was being renovated. An brick extension was built to the rear. The basement became the parish centre with kitchen, toilets and meeting rooms while the upper floors were refurbished. The 1st, 2nd and 3rd floors were divided so that each Father had a their own living quarters with their own bathroom and sitting room, as well as a communal sitting room and dining room. The brick cleaning to the front elevation along with the new stonework, repointing and new traditional sash windows help to make this building a beautiful sight in Hoxton Square.
Installation of 40 new windows, new fascias and gutters, new ensuite to ground floor, redecorations, link between houses, new block paved driveway. This job involved moving the Fathers from their rooms and back in again after each room was finished. The windows were all large sliding sash double glazed units. A new ground floor en-suite was created for an elderly priest.
